UPDATE: Snow Is Supposing Support's Really Growing, But Snow Is Supposing Erroneously

A capacity crowd? AP (02.24.05):
In an hour-long meeting with about 50 people at the Tampa Area Chamber of Commerce, (Treasury Secretary John) Snow said the current Social Security system needs to be fixed now, rather than waiting until the system is on the verge of financial ruin. Treasury Sec. Snow makes Tampa pitch for Social Security plan
AP (02.23.05):
"Treasury Secretary John Snow acknowledged Wednesday that the Bush administration has not yet succeeded in selling its plan for Social Security to the American people, and said backers would continue to travel the country educating people about the program's problems. He said Wednesday that he understands that Congress has been leery about creating personal accounts as part of Social Security, as Bush has proposed. 'We still have some work to do,' Snow said." Mr. Snow predicted that opinions will change as people learn more. Maybe not the way he'd like. From the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: "A poll released yesterday by AARP, done by Roper Public Affairs, found that 66 percent of Americans above the age of 30 want Social Security kept as it is. AARP Chief Executive Officer Bill Novelli said that when people who were surveyed 'understood the full details' of private accounts, full support for them fell to 5 percent." Emphasis supplied. Apologies to Arthur Freed, BTW.
