"First-time applications for state unemployment benefits rose to 350,000 last week, the most since the week ended Jan. 8, from 330,000, the Labor Department said. "Crude futures climbed more than $2 a barrel Thursday on the heels of rising prices for gasoline and heating oil futures. The U.S. government released data on Wednesday that showed a large increase in crude inventories, but a drop in the nation's supply of gasoline and distillate fuel, which includes heating oil."
