Another One

Another burning issue of the day. Are they ever gonna get around to doing any real work? AP (07.20.06):
"Legislation to bar federal courts from ruling on constitutional issues arising from the Pledge of Allegiance, including the 'one nation, under God' reference, passed the House after lawmakers argued that the pledge is linked to the nation's spiritual history. 'We should not and cannot rewrite history to ignore our spiritual heritage,' said Rep. Zach Wamp (R - TN3). 'It surrounds us. It cries out for our country to honor God.'" House OKs Bill Guarding Pledge From Courts
Talk about melodrama. It cries out? Zach used to party hard. To his credit, these days he just prays hard. Zach is also one of those politicians who when he was first elected to the House, promised to only serve six terms, through 2007. Upon his reelection in 2004, however, he changed his mind, saying his initial promise was "'a mistake.'" Oh, the House approved this thing yesterday by a vote of 260-167.
