You Knew This Was Coming

The game is rigged. Nothing Iran does or will do will be acceptable. AP (08.24.06):
"The Bush administration said Wednesday a proposal by Iran for nuclear negotiations falls short of U.N. demands that it cease uranium enrichment, and the U.S. began plotting unspecified 'next moves' with other governments. The State Department, in a terse statement, acknowledged that Iran considered its proposal to be a serious one. 'We will review it,' the statement said in what appeared to be a conciliatory gesture to a government it regularly denounces as a sponsor of terror." U.S. Says Iran Proposal Falls Short
In the meantime, they have no idea what the fuck is really going on. Washington Post (08.24.06):
"A key House committee issued a stinging critique of U S intelligence on Iran yesterday, charging that the CIA and other agencies lack 'the ability to acquire essential information necessary to make judgments' on Tehran's nuclear program, its intentions, or even its ties to terrorism. 'American intelligence agencies do not know nearly enough about Iran's nuclear weapons program' to help policy makers at a critical time, the report's authors wrote." Intelligence on Iran is criticized in House report
They don't even have a bad idea. "Information 'regarding potential Iranian chemical weapons and biological weapons programs is neither voluminous nor conclusive,' and little evidence has been gathered to tie Iran to Al Qaeda and to the recent fighting between Israel and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, they said." Even so, they "fully backed the White House position that Iran is moving forward with a nuclear weapons program and that it poses a significant danger to the United States." The boys aren't hearing what they want to hear, and they're getting pissed off. NYTimes (08.24.06):
"Some senior Bush administration officials and top Republican lawmakers are voicing anger that American spy agencies have not issued more ominous warnings about the threats that they say Iran presents to the United States. Some policy makers have accused intelligence agencies of playing down Iran’s role in Hezbollah’s recent attacks against Israel and overestimating the time it would take for Iran to build a nuclear weapon." Some in G.O.P. Say Iran Threat Is Played Down
Yep, that's the ticket. Fly blind; bomb everything.
