A Dork By Any Other Name

So do you think this guy's ever been laid? CNN (09.29.10):
"A conservative activist known for making undercover videos plotted to embarrass a CNN correspondent by recording a meeting on hidden cameras aboard a floating 'palace of pleasure' and making sexually suggestive comments, e-mails and a planning document show."

Fake pimp from ACORN videos tries to 'punk' CNN correspondent

Here was his plan. "Among the props listed were a 'condom jar, dildos, posters and paintings of naked women, fuzzy handcuffs' and a blindfold."

Fuzzy handcuffs? Hubba, hubba!

L'indignation Du Jour

Sharon does Twitter. Wonkette (08.05.10), via Crooks and Liars:
"Why did Harry Reid vote in favor of giving cocaine to monkeys? Doesn’t he know that this is an issue specifically reserved to the states, by the 10th amendment?"

Why Is Harry Reid Giving His Monkey Friends All The Good Drugs?

Wonkette continues: "This research was highlighted in a report that John McCain and Jim Coburn wrote about wasteful stimulus spending, since the only thing those guys hate more than science is paying for science."

The research in question is being done by the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. They are studying cocaine addiction and the incidences of relapse. They weren't going to use monkeys at first, but they found out there are a few pesky ethical issues with having humans as subjects.

Sigh

If ignorance is bliss, these folks must be mighty damned happy. CNN (08.04.10), via Oliver Willis:
"'Twenty-seven percent of Republicans say he was probably not born here, and another 14 percent of Republicans say he was definitely not born in the U.S.'"

Quarter doubt Obama was born in U.S.

These are some dumb fucking people.

Miss Him Yet?

Thanks for the memories. CBPP (02.17.10), via those commies over at the Washington Monthly:
"Some critics charge that the new policies pursued by President Obama and the 111th Congress caused the huge federal budget deficits that the nation now faces. In fact, the tax cuts enacted under President George W. Bush, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the economic downturn together explain virtually the entire deficit over the next ten years"

Where Today's Large Deficits Come From

As Steve sez:

"For those who believe empirical facts exist, we know exactly what caused the $1.3 trillion budget deficit Republicans left for Democrats to deal with. Boehner's humiliating gibberish notwithstanding, Bush's tax cuts are the single biggest factor in the budget shortfall -- and will remain the single biggest contributor to the deficit over the next decade."

Newt!!

Real family values guy, that old Newt. New Republic (04.09.10), via The Washington Monthly:
"(Newt) cheated on his first wife and told her he wanted a divorce while she was recovering from surgery for cancer. He subsequently cheated on his second wife with a much younger aide."

Why Are We Listening To Newt Gingrich?

"It's fairly amazing how Gingrich has managed to avoid any stigma from this. He's just a conservative 'ideas guy.'"

Nothing but a class act, that old Newt!

The Dumb Bastard Club

Ha!! Our friends, the Republicans: "the party of unadulterated quackery...." The Atlantic (04.07.10), via BalloonJuice:
This is who they are--the proud and ignorant. If you believe that if we still had segregation we wouldn't "have had all these problems," this is the movement for you. If you believe that your president is a Muslim sleeper agent, this is the movement for you.

Fucking Nuts

No two ways about it. The Daily Beast (03.22.10), via DailyKos:
  1. 67 percent of Republicans (and 40 percent of Americans overall) believe that Obama is a socialist.
  2. 57 percent of Republicans (32 percent overall) believe that Obama is a Muslim
  3. 45 percent of Republicans (25 percent overall) agree with the Birthers in their belief that Obama was "not born in the United States and so is not eligible to be president"
  4. 38 percent of Republicans (20 percent overall) say that Obama is "doing many of the things that Hitler did"
  5. Scariest of all, 24 percent of Republicans (14 percent overall) say that Obama "may be the Antichrist."

It Just Doen't Stop

This would be funnier if it weren't so pathetic. Bloomberg (02.22.10), via The Washington Monthly:
"Alabama Republicans Jo Bonner and Robert Aderholt took to the U.S. House floor in July, denouncing the Obama administration’s stimulus plan for failing to boost employment. “Where are the jobs?” each of them asked.

Republicans Voting Against Stimulus Then Asked Obama for Money

"Over the next three months, Bonner and Aderholt tried at least five times to steer stimulus-funded transportation grants to Alabama on grounds that the projects would help create thousands of jobs."

Asshats And Buffoons

Well you should be damned proud to be a Republican, shouldn't you. Washington Post (2.08.10):
"At this point, I don't think it's well understood how many of the GOP's central health-care policy ideas have already been included as compromises in the health-care bill.

But one good way is to look at the GOP's 'Solutions for America' homepage, which lays out its health-care plan in some detail.

The six Republican ideas already in the health-care reform bill

It has four planks. All of them -- yes, you read that right -- are in the Senate health-care bill."

See, also, "Stimulus foes see value in seeking cash", from the Washington Times, no less: "More than a dozen Republican lawmakers, while denouncing the stimulus to the media and their constituents, privately sent letters to just one of the federal government's many agencies seeking stimulus money for home-state pork projects."

Holy Shit

Just came across this little nugget. Gallup (06.20.08), via Whiskey Fire:

What A Shame

Kevin Drum (11.16.080):
"For many years, the Democratic Party controlled the agenda of American politics and Southerners controlled much of the Democratic Party. So the South had enormous political influence.

Later, most Southerners switched to the Republican Party, but by then it was Republicans who controlled the agenda of American politics. So the South still had enormous political influence.

The South

"As of January 20th, however, the Democratic Party will control the American political agenda once again. But Southerners are still Republicans, which means that their political influence will be nearly nonexistent."

"In other words, for the first time since Reconstruction, the South will be almost completely shut out of national power."

Good fucking riddance.

Whither The Intolerants

LATimes (10.28.08), via Kevin Drum:
"In skirmishes around the country in recent months, evangelicals and others who believe Republicans have been too timid in fighting abortion, gay marriage and illegal immigration have won election to the party's national committee, in preparation for a fight over the direction and leadership of the party."

Taxing Their Brains

If any they may have. Hey don't expect any conservative Republicans to consider any of this. It's the fucking MSM, for fuck's sake. It's all lies. NYTimes (10.16.08), via WhiskeyFire:

Tax Advice for ‘Joe the Plumber’
